What to wear for Diploma Recipients
- Massey University Stoles are worn by recipients of diplomas.
- They are like a long scarf and hang down the front over the gown.
- Massey University Stoles are black with a pale blue inner margin and the Massey University crest embroidered near the hem on one side.
- No distinction is made between different classes of diplomas e.g. Undergraduate diplomas vs. Graduate diplomas.
- Stoles are sized according to your full height.
- The size you select is a guide only as every customer is given an opportunity for a personal fitting when collecting regalia.
- If you have already graduated with a degree, order the full set of regalia for that Massey degree, OR a bachelor gown , diploma stole and trencher hat
Bachelor and Masters Degree Regalia
- Bachelor gowns are worn by bachelor degree, diploma, and certificate recipients. They are black Cambridge bachelor style, and have an open sleeve.
- Master gowns are worn by Master degree recipients. They are black Cambridge University Master degree style, and have an closed sleeve
- They are a generous fit and should suit most people. We do have gowns that are wider across the shoulders if required.
- Gowns are sized according to your full height and should be worn at mid-calf length.
- The size you select is a guide only as every customer is given an opportunity for a personal fitting when collecting regalia.
- The hood for the Bachelor degree and Bachelor Degree with Honours (undergraduate) is lined with coloured satin and bordered with white fur.
- The hood for the Bachelor Honours degrees (post graduate) is lined with coloured satin and bordered with a 40mm white ribbon
- The Masters degree hoods are lined with coloured satin but do not have any trim
- The hood for a PhD degree shall be made of material of the colour of "Post Office Red "( BCC 209) and shall be lined "University Blue" ( BCC 90 ).
- The hood of other Doctors Degrees shall be the Master's hood appropriate to the discipline in which the degree was taken.
- Massey University hoods are the same size and shape as the hood for the Cambridge Bachelor of Arts.

DRESS CODE
Your graduation ceremony is a formal celebration of your achievement, and you are encouraged to dress appropriately.
Appropriate dress is considered to be
Men : suit and tie and applicable academic dress
Women: formal clothes and applicable academic dress
At Graduation all graduates shall appear in the academic dress proper to their degree. Graduates of other Universities may wear the academic dress of their own university. Maori and Pacific Cloaks may be worn with academic dress.
International students may prefer to wear their national dress with academic regalia.

Advice from Previous Graduands
- The temperature in the venue is reasonably warm, especially when wearing regalia.
- Men may find it helpful to wear a shirt and tie, as placing the neckband of your hood under your tie helps to hold your hood in place (women may need to pin their hood to their gown).
- Graduation day involves a considerable amount of walking and standing so very high heels may not be practical.
- Choose a hairstyle that allows you to wear your trencher comfortably
